As the 2024 PZU Amp Futbol Ekstraklasa season nears its conclusion, Wisła Kraków is on the brink of clinching their fourth consecutive Polish championship. Fresh off their victory in the EAFF Champions League just 20 days ago, the team from Kraków could potentially secure the title during the upcoming tournament in Poznań, with favorable results allowing them to celebrate as early as Saturday. However, captain Przemysław Świercz remains cautious, emphasizing that the team must remain focused until they have the trophy in hand.
Wisła’s Dominance in the 2024 Season
With two tournaments remaining, Wisła Kraków leads the table with a 10-point advantage over second-placed Podbeskidzie Kuloodporni Bielsko-Biała. Their remarkable season includes 16 wins and a single draw, setting them up for an unbeaten campaign if they can avoid defeat in Poznań and the final round in Warsaw. Striker Kamil Grygiel emphasized the team’s determination to maintain their winning streak, aiming to be the first team in league history to finish a season without a single loss.
Warta Poznań Eyes a Podium Finish
While Wisła focuses on securing the title, the tournament hosts, Warta Poznań, are battling for third place. Currently six points behind Śląsk Wrocław, Warta hopes to replicate their success from last year and claim a bronze medal. The competition in Poznań will be intense, with teams fighting for every point as the season draws to a close. Matches are set to take place at Golęcin Stadium on October 12-13, with free entry and live broadcasts available on TVP Sport and YouTube.
